Preface to “A Simple Path”
Jesus said, “Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. 29 Take my yoke
upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.
30 For my yoke is easy and my burden is light,” Matthew 11:28-30. ‘‘A Simple Path” is being published as a guide to help you develop a daily Quiet Time, to discover the
gentleness of Jesus Christ, to put on the yoke of humility and service to your neighbor through the power
of the Holy Spirit and the leadership of Jesus Christ.
You may be a seasoned Disciple of Christ or a new Christian and maybe you are having trouble setting
aside time each morning to fellowship with our God Almighty, or maybe you are haphazard and
wait until there is a crisis that demands you cry out to Jesus.
“A Simple Path” is just that, simple verses that can be read prayerfully, through which God can speak
to you. Begin the day in fellowship with our heavenly Father praying and reading His word, this will
help you to focus on Him and not on yourselves.
Each week begins with a Praise verse designed by the Holy Spirit to help you focus on God instead
of yourself, as a result of this daily “Quiet Time” you will be given a heart that wants to follow Jesus
with a stronger desire. That desire will be the Holy Spirit working in you.
As you come to love the Lord with more passion, your quiet times will become habitual and He will
begin to show you those in your world that need His touch.
He will let you see what He sees and offer you opportunities to serve Him by telling them about the
life changing power of His word. That is what you will do, maybe shyly at first but more boldly as you
grow in faith.
I challenge you to make these daily and weekly devotions a part of your daily quiet time over the next
month and see what happens. I can not say, that these are the specific verses that you need, but God
has placed them on my heart and moved me to share with you.
Eventually you will develop your own way of finding verses for each day. Notice “A Simple Path” has
seven steps with a description of each, I am not sure how I came up with these. I looked in my journal
and I can not find any reference, maybe I copied parts and then modified. So I am not taking credit for the 7
aspects, If I can find the origin I will give credit where credit is due.
